Chapter 12: Sacrifices and Courage

Arthur reached Eleanor and quickly began undoing the ropes securing her wrists. One of Victor’s guards, recovering from the blast, spotted them and raised his firearm toward Arthur.
"Look out!" Eleanor screamed, throwing her weight sideways to push her father out of the line of fire. A gunshot rang out, the bullet ricocheting harmlessly against a steel beam above as tactical officers tackled the guard to the ground.
Victor attempted to flee through a side door carrying the briefcase, but Julian intercepted him, blocking the exit until police officers disarmed and handcuffed the syndicate leader.

Arthur held Eleanor tight as the dust settled. She sobbed against his shoulder—not out of fear, but out of relief. "I'm sorry, Dad. I'm so sorry," she whispered.
"No, Eleanor," Arthur said, tears streaming down his face as he kissed her forehead. "I am the one who should be sorry. I let you go. I will never let you go again."
