Chapter 1: The Breaking Point

Ryan stared into the cold, calculating eyes of his mother, Evelyn. The woman who had raised him had become a monster. He let go of her face, his hands trembling—not from fear, but from the immense, agonizing effort it took not to become the violence she had taught him.

""Get out,"" he roared, his voice cracking with a pain that echoed through the pristine white kitchen. ""Before I call the police.""

Evelyn sneered, adjusting her black blouse, trying desperately to maintain her facade of absolute control. ""She’s unstable, Ryan. Look at her. She did this to herself,"" Evelyn spat, pointing a manicured finger at the scattered pills.

But Ryan wasn't a blind child anymore. The illusion was broken. He rushed to Sarah, dropping to his knees. He gathered her battered, trembling frame into his arms, pulling little Leo tightly against his chest. Sarah’s face was bruised and bleeding, but she clung to Ryan as if he were her only lifeline. He pulled his phone from his pocket with shaking hands and dialed 911. The reign of terror in their home was over.
