By eight o'clock Monday morning, the financial markets had opened, and the digital release of the Sterling Foundation dossier had detonated across national news networks. Financial news anchors dissected the leaked transcripts and audio recordings of Richard Sterling coordinating the disruption at the Astoria gala, framing it as a prime example of corporate espionage and intimidation. Shares of Richard’s primary conglomerate plummeted by thirty-two percent within the first forty-and-five minutes of trading as institutional investors frantically dumped their holdings to distance themselves from the scandal.

Inside the thirty-fifth-floor executive office at Sterling headquarters, Arthur sat calmly at his walnut desk, watching the live financial ticker scroll across the wall monitor. Julianne entered carrying a fresh cup of coffee, a subtle smile playing on her lips. "The regulatory commission has officially frozen Richard’s corporate accounts pending a criminal investigation into market manipulation and extortion. His major financial backers have publicly severed all ties." Arthur took a sip of his coffee, his expression entirely composed. "Greed always blinds men like Richard. They believe money makes them untouchable, forgetting that absolute power requires absolute discipline."

The office door opened without knocking, and Richard Sterling burst into the room. His hair was disheveled, his expensive Italian suit wrinkled, and his face flushed with panicked rage. Two security guards trailed closely behind him, their hands poised to restrain him if necessary. "Arthur! You ruthless bastard!" Richard shouted, pointing a shaking finger across the desk. "You engineered this! You destroyed my entire portfolio over a spilled glass of juice and a broken tooth?" Arthur did not stand up. He simply looked up, his gaze chillingly calm as he motioned for the security guards to step back.
