Chapter 14: The New Picture

To celebrate the court's decision, Clara hosted a small dinner party at the diner. The room was decorated with colorful paper streamers, and the mouth-watering aroma of fresh homemade apple pie filled the warm air.

Big Mike handed Leo a small wrapped box. When Leo opened it, he found a brand-new leather jacket, miniature size, complete with a custom patch on the front that read: “LEO - JR. MECHANIC.”

Leo put it on instantly, beaming with pride as he strutted around the diner showing everyone his new jacket.

Clara walked over to Jax, holding an old polaroid camera she had pulled out from her storage room. ""Alright, everyone! Time for a proper picture!""

Jax sat down on the diner counter stool, pulling Leo up onto his knee. Clara lined up the shot through the viewfinder.

""Say cheese!"" Clara called out.

""Cheese!"" Leo shouted loudly.

The camera clicked, popping a bright flash, and spat out a white film card. They watched eagerly as the colors slowly developed under the warm diner lights.

The image showed a radiant, happy eight-year-old boy grinning ear-to-ear, wrapped safely in the arms of a tall, tattooed man whose face was filled with pure joy and love.

Jax stared at the photo, comparing it in his mind to the faded, tragic picture Leo had brought him months ago. The dark shadows of his past were finally gone, replaced by a bright, beautiful picture of a real family.
