Chapter 15 - An Empire Reborn

Blue and red flashing lights illuminated the docks as three ambulances and a fleet of police cruisers cordoned off warehouse forty-two. Dr. Aris rushed through the doors with a fully equipped mobile trauma team, dropping beside Elena on the sterile blankets laid across the clean floor of the medical vehicle.
The rain finally stopped outside, dawn’s pale light breaking through the industrial smog over the harbor.

Mark sat beside Elena, his face streaked with tears and dirt, watching as Dr. Aris wrapped a healthy, vigorous baby boy in warm swaddling cloth and placed him gently onto Elena’s exhausted chest.

She looked down at the newborn, a rare, faint smile softening her stern face. “A true Sterling. Unbroken.”
