Chapter 9: The Boardroom Reckoning

At precisely 8:30 AM the following morning, the 50th-floor executive boardroom of Vance Global Tower was filled with high-profile shareholders, senior executives, and prominent Wall Street investment partners. Sunlight poured through the floor-to-ceiling glass windows, illuminating the gleaming Brazilian mahogany conference table. Victoria Sterling sat arrogantly near the head of the table alongside her mother, Lady Eleanor Sterling. Both were dressed in custom Parisian designer power suits, completely oblivious to the late-night federal operation that had dismantled Richard’s underground syndicate only hours before.
"Where on earth is Richard with the signature pages?" Eleanor demanded sharply, tapping her diamond-encrusted Cartier watch against the polished wood with visible agitation. "We have established an emergency quorum today. We are voting this morning to permanently strip the incapacitated Vance family of executive authority, liquidate their remaining assets, and rebrand our entire international property portfolio under Sterling Asset Management."
Before any intimidated board member could utter a single word of hesitation, the double heavy oak doors swung wide open with a resounding bang.
Every breath in the room caught simultaneously. Walking across the threshold was not a defeated heir, but Leo Vance himself. He was dressed in crisp dark denim jeans, polished work boots, and a tailored executive blazer, carrying himself with undeniable magnetic authority. Walking at his side with graceful poise was Clara Morales, dressed in an immaculate navy blazer and carrying a thick leather portfolio of uncorrupted architectural blueprints and certified geological audits.
Victoria gasped aloud in sheer disbelief, rising so abruptly that her leather armchair overturned noisily against the floorboards. "What is the meaning of this circus? Security! Remove this common trench laborer and his pathetic charity case from this private meeting immediately!"
"Take your seat, Victoria," Leo’s deep baritone voice boomed across the chamber, silencing the entire room with chilling authority and unwavering command.
Behind Leo entered Arthur Vance—the venerable founder of the conglomerate—looking healthy, revitalized, and flanked by the Regional Director of the Securities and Exchange Commission along with two federal prosecutors.
"Arthur!" Eleanor gasped, the color instantly draining from her aristocratic face as she gripped the table for support. "You were supposed to be completely incapacitated in Zurich!"

"I returned the very moment my son alerted me to the venomous vipers attempting to poison my life's work," Arthur Vance announced, stepping forward to take his rightful seat at the head of the boardroom. "Thanks to the tireless courage of Leo and Miss Morales, Richard Sterling is currently sitting in federal holding, having already signed a forty-page confession detailing wire fraud, structural sabotage, and widespread corporate extortion."
Pandemonium erupted across the room as investors scrambled to check their tablets, where breaking financial alerts flashed across major news networks.
