Chapter 15

The next morning, the salty breeze of the Atlantic ocean washed over the white sand dunes, carrying the distant, rhythmic sound of crashing waves. Elena stood at the edge of the shore, her bare feet sinking slightly into the cool, damp sand. She wore a simple white linen dress that flowed freely in the coastal wind, completely unburdened by heavy fabrics or stifling expectations.

She looked out at the vast, sparkling expanse of the ocean stretching endlessly toward the horizon. Water had once been a symbol of an attempt to break her—a cold, sudden push into the dark under the artificial glow of backyard string lights. But standing here now, surrounded by the natural majesty of the sea, the water felt vast, clean, and liberating.

Clara walked up beside her, holding a pair of sandals in one hand and smiling at the open view. "It’s beautiful out here. So quiet."

"It really is," Elena murmured, breathing in the deep, salty air.

She closed her eyes for a brief moment, letting the sunlight warm her face and the sound of the waves wash away the very last echoes of a life left behind. She hadn't just survived the fall; she had learned how to swim through the deepest currents and emerge onto her own shore.

The past was gone, washed away by the tide. The future lay ahead of her, wide open, bright, and entirely her own to write. Elena took a deep, steady breath, smiled toward the horizon, and walked forward into the light.
