Chapter 5: The Unspoken Rift

By the third day, Clara was moved out of ICU into a standard recovery room. Her physical wounds were healing—the swelling in her leg had decreased, and her vital signs were stable. Yet, a heavy silence began to settle between them.

While Ryan stayed by her side around the clock, bringing her home-cooked broth and making sure her pillows were soft, the ghost of their past arguments hovered in the room.

""You shouldn't be taking off work because of me,"" Clara said softly one afternoon, staring out the window at the city skyline. ""Your job is important, Ryan.""
