Chapter 12: A Name for the Future

By morning, the storm had passed, leaving behind a crisp, clear sky wiped clean by the rain. Sunbeams filtered through the grand windows of Oakhaven, painting the hardwood floors in golden light.

The medical team finally arrived, confirming that both Clara and the baby were in excellent health.

In the quiet afternoon, Julian sat on the edge of Clara’s bed, watching her hold the sleeping baby.

"Have you thought of a name?" Julian asked gently.

Clara smiled, her face radiant despite her tiredness. "I want to name him Leo. It means courage. Because he survived everything we went through to get here."

Julian nodded slowly, a warm smile gracing his features. "Leo Vance. It’s a strong name."

Clara looked up at Julian, her gaze thoughtful. "Julian... what happens now? The trial is over, the Sterling family is gone, and Leo is here. What becomes of us?"

Julian took her hand softly. "I used to think my life was defined by the legacy my father left me. But sitting in this room last night, holding your hand, I realized something. Legacy isn't about the past, Clara. It's about what we build for the future. I want to build that future with you... if you'll have me."
