Chapter 13: Maya’s Garden

By the summer of 2028, Maya had grown into a vibrant, brilliant two-year-old girl.

She had wide, fearless hazel eyes, an infectious giggle, and an unshakeable love for the outdoors.

On a radiant Saturday afternoon in June, the Harrington Foundation celebrated the opening of *The Lincoln Park Community Children's Conservatory*—a three-acre public botanical learning garden designed and funded through Claire’s algorithmic royalties.

Hundreds of families from across Chicago gathered under the glass pavilions.

Maya ran through the raised strawberry beds wearing a yellow linen sundress and small white sneakers, holding a wooden watering can with both hands, watering every flower with serious, focused toddler determination.

Claire stood on the terrace with Arthur and Maya Chen, watching her daughter laugh with a group of neighborhood children.

""Look at her run, Claire,"" Maya Chen smiled, resting her arm around her friend’s shoulder.

""She runs like she owns the earth,"" Claire laughed softly.

""She does own it,"" Arthur added with deep pride. ""Because her mother had the courage to make sure nobody ever put a fence around her name.""
