Chapter 14 - The Final Truth

The grand foyer fell into a stunned, suffocating silence. Elena stood frozen at the base of the staircase, her dark eyes darting between Mia standing alive on the landing and Arthur standing rigidly on the steps below her.

"Mia..." Elena breathed, taking a hesitant step forward, her voice cracking with overwhelming emotion. "You're... you're really alive? Arthur told me you were gone. He showed me the reports."

Mia looked down at her sister, her expression hardening slightly as she shifted her gaze to Arthur. "He showed you what he wanted you to see, Elena. Arthur didn't save me from the crash. He caused it."

Arthur flinched as if struck physically. "That's a lie!" he shouted, turning back to face Elena. "Elena, don't listen to her! Jonathan has manipulated her just like he manipulated everything else! I pulled her from that car!"

"You pushed her into it," a small voice interrupted.

Arthur stopped, slowly turning his head. Standing near the massive front doors, completely detached from the chaos, was Leo. The eight-year-old boy was holding the heavy iron hammer he had carried from the white room, resting the tool casually against his shoulder.

"Leo?" Elena whispered, looking back and forth in sheer confusion. "What are you talking about?"

"He's not a child, Elena," Mia said gently from the landing, descending the stairs a few slow steps. "Or at least, that's not who he was three years ago."

Arthur stared at the boy, his face draining of all remaining color. A cold, paralyzing dread settled deep into his bones.

"Who do you think pulled the trigger on the surveillance operation, Elena?" Jonathan asked, smiling thinly. "Who do you think left the red ink messages and mapped out every security flaw in Arthur's pristine little life?"

Elena stepped back, her gaze snapping to Leo. The boy didn't cower; he met her stare with an icy, unblinking maturity that defied his small stature.

"I engineered every single piece of this," Leo said, his voice dropping its youthful cadence, revealing a chilling, controlled intellect. "Arthur thought he could bury my research, lock me away in a legal loophole, and erase my work with a wave of his hand. But code doesn't die, Arthur. And neither do I."

Arthur staggered backward down the steps, raising a trembling hand. "You're... you're not..."

"I am the architect of your downfall," Leo finished, stepping forward as the overhead lights flickered once, twice, and then went entirely black, plunging the grand foyer into absolute, terrifying darkness.
