Chapter 13: New Beginnings

The following autumn brought life-changing news to the family.

On a crisp October morning, Elena sat beside Julian on the sunlit porch, a small envelope in her hands. When Julian opened it and read the medical report inside, tears welled in his eyes.

""Are you sure?"" he whispered, his heart pounding with overwhelming joy.

Elena smiled, nodding as she placed his hand over her stomach. ""Seven weeks.""

When they shared the news with Victoria during dinner that weekend, the former matriarch sat in complete silence for a long moment. Then, slowly, she set down her fork, placed her face in her hands, and wept softly—tears not of sorrow, but of deep, humble joy.

""A child..."" Victoria whispered, wiping her eyes with a napkin. ""A new generation.""

""And this child,"" Elena said softly across the table, ""will grow up knowing that family is built on honesty, love, and grace. We would love for you to be her grandmother, Victoria—the real you.""

Victoria looked at Elena, her heart swelling with an emotion she had suppressed for half a century. ""I promise you... I will give this child only love. No fear. Only love.""
