Chapter 1

The air inside the jewelry store was unnaturally cold, carrying the sharp scent of polished mahogany and chilled champagne. Beneath the recessed track lighting, the diamond displays sparkled like frozen stars, casting harsh white reflections across the pristine glass counters. Emma stood near the center aisle, her royal blue boat-neck dress clinging to her frame like a second skin. Her dark brown hair, tied back with a few loose strands framing her flushed face, trembled slightly as she took a deep, shuddering breath. Across from her stood Julian, immaculate in his charcoal grey blazer and black button-down shirt, his expression hardened into an absolute mask of corporate calculation. Next to him, Clara adjusted her diamond necklace, her green sleeveless dress catching the light as she watched the confrontation with predatory satisfaction. Emma's chest rose and fell in a rhythm of restrained agony. She raised her smartphone, the screen illuminating her tear-streaked cheeks with a cold, blue glow. "I came to see what you'd do if you thought I was powerless," she whispered, her voice cracking just enough to betray the immense weight of her heartbreak. Julian stepped forward, his loafers clicking sharply against the polished marble floor. His jaw tightened, the muscles ticking beneath his clean-shaven skin. He leaned over the glass counter, invading her personal space with calculated intimidation. "By Friday, your shares are mine," he retorted, his voice dropping into a low, menacing register that brooked no argument. Clara offered a thin, triumphant smile, believing the game was already won. Yet, Emma did not flinch. She remained anchored to the spot, her eyes locking onto Julian's with a terrifying clarity that momentarily derailed his cold certainty. She slowly lowered her phone onto the glass surface, leaving it face up between them. The screen pulsed rhythmically, displaying an incoming call from Perel Daley alongside an urgent system notification warning of a completely blocked financial transfer. Julian glanced down, his smug composure fracturing instantly. The color drained from his face as he read the frozen numbers, his eyes widening in sudden, unmitigated shock. "The transfer is blocked? We found the forged signature, Emma," he stammered, the absolute control in his voice giving way to a jagged edge of panic. Emma turned on her heel, her blue dress sweeping the air as she briskly walked down the bright corridor toward the exit. Julian surged forward, his voice cracking into a desperate shout that echoed off the glass walls. "Emma! We also found your father, primal live!" The words hung in the air, heavy with a menace that changed everything, freezing Emma in her tracks just inches from the heavy glass doors.
