Chapter 5 - The Digital Leak

The screech of tires echoed down the suburban street as Arthur’s sedan accelerated away from the St. Jude side exit. In the back seat, Clara sat staring blankly out the window, clutching the strap of her ruined school uniform shirt.
"Are you okay, sweetie?" Arthur asked, keeping his eyes locked on the rearview mirror, watching for any sign of pursuit.
"My head feels so light," Clara whispered, her hand gently touching the uneven, jagged stubble behind her left ear where Mrs. Gable had taken the shears. "Do you think the other kids are laughing at me?"
"No one is laughing at you, Clara. What happened back there was cruel and completely wrong, and I promise you, those people are going to pay for what they did," Arthur said, his voice laced with fierce determination. He reached over and tapped the dashboard screen, connecting his phone to the car's audio system. "Let's see what Principal Vance was trying so hard to hide."
Arthur pulled the red leather-bound journal out of his backpack, flipping open the worn pages while keeping one hand firmly on the steering wheel. He began reading aloud the entries detailing the systematic psychological abuse inflicted upon students who challenged the school's draconian dress and behavior codes.
"Listen to this entry from March last year," Arthur read, his voice shaking with disbelief. "'Student 042, Marcus Vance, exhibited signs of defiance. Administered sleep deprivation protocol and parental notification waiver.' My god, Clara. They weren't just punishing kids; they were breaking them down on purpose."
"Dad, look at the back pocket of the journal," Clara said, leaning forward between the front seats. She pointed a small, trembling finger at a clear plastic sleeve taped to the inside back cover.
Inside the sleeve was a MicroSD card labeled Master Archive - 2021-2024.
Arthur pulled the car over to the side of a quiet residential street, cutting the engine. He carefully extracted the tiny memory card from the plastic sleeve and plugged it directly into the USB port of his laptop resting in the passenger seat. The screen flickered to life, displaying a folder directory containing hundreds of video files labeled with student names and dates.

Arthur clicked on the top file, and the screen illuminated the dark cabin with high-definition security footage of Mrs. Gable forcing a sobbing eighth-grade boy to kneel on a salt shaker for an entire class period.
