Chapter 4: The Asset Freeze
Julian’s eyes widened in sheer disbelief as he stared at Elena, desperately searching her face for any sign of a bluff, a cruel joke, or an emotional outburst that he could somehow manage. There was none. She looked up from her smartphone, her gaze as sharp and cold as polished steel. She spoke into the quiet foyer with a chilling matter-of-factness that made Clara gasp softly behind him. "Freeze all trust assets and liquidate them immediately," Elena commanded Siri, her voice crisp and clear as the AI assistant acknowledged the high-level security override. Julian froze, his breath catching in his throat. Those weren't just bank accounts; they were the complex liquidity streams that funded his lavish lifestyle, his luxury cars, his high-stakes investments, and his secret off-shore accounts. "Wait," Julian choked out, panic finally breaking through his polished exterior. "What did you just order?" He lunged forward, his hands hovering inches from Elena’s shoulders before he caught himself, remembering the sleeping infant pressed against her chest. Elena stepped back effortlessly, keeping a safe distance while maintaining total control of the narrative. The algorithmic security protocols of Vanguard Holdings were legendary; once an executive audit was triggered by the primary trust holder, all secondary linked accounts, corporate credit lines, and discretionary funds were locked instantly without human intervention. Julian felt the digital floor drop out from under him. He reached into his own coat pocket with trembling fingers, pulling out his personal smartphone to check his banking app. The screen flashed a bright, angry crimson warning: Account Access Suspended Pending Fraud Investigation. The blood drained completely from Julian’s face, leaving him looking remarkably pale against his expensive brown suit. He looked from the dead screen in his hand back to his wife, realizing with absolute horror that she hadn't just caught him cheating—she had just economically executed him in less than three seconds.
