Chapter 11 - The Penthouse Confrontation

The two private enforcers stood like twin statues outside the mahogany double doors, their hands resting casually near the holsters concealed beneath their bespoke suits. They were professionals—ex-military contractors who didn't blink, didn't talk, and didn't make mistakes.

Until now.

Jax stepped out from the alcove of the service stairway, his massive shoulders blocking the corridor. He didn't try to hide. He wanted them to see him coming.

The taller of the two enforcers stiffened, his hand flashing instantly toward his hip. "Halt. Private property. Turn around—"

Jax didn't let him finish the sentence. He exploded forward with terrifying speed, closing the distance between them in less than a second. Before the enforcer could clear his weapon, Jax slammed his heavy, bandaged palm upward into the man’s chin, snapping his head back with a sickening crunch.

The second enforcer lunged forward, throwing a vicious right hook aimed directly at Jax’s jaw. Jax ducked under the blow with practiced ease, pivoting on his heel and driving his elbow deep into the enforcer’s ribs. The man let out a sharp gasp of air, his knees buckling beneath him as he crashed heavily onto the plush carpeting.

Both guards were unconscious within five seconds.

Jax didn't waste a second catching his breath. He stepped over their fallen bodies, grabbed the heavy brass handles of the mahogany double doors, and yanked them open with brute force.

The interior of the penthouse suite was breathtaking. Crystal chandeliers cast a dazzling, diamond-like brilliance over white marble floors, white leather furniture, and floor-to-ceiling glass walls. In the center of the vast living room stood Clara, dressed in an immaculate evening gown, holding a glass of amber whiskey.

Sitting in a medical bed pushed against the far glass wall, hooked up to a portable IV drip, was Chloe. She was awake, her big eyes wide with confusion and fear as she looked around the luxurious room.

"Daddy!" Chloe cried out, her small voice cutting through the silent room like a bell.

"Jax," Clara said calmly, not even flinching as she took a slow sip of her whiskey. She turned around to face him, a thin, patronizing smile playing on her crimson lips. "I must admit, I underestimated your persistence. Climbing seventy-eight floors with broken hands... truly a desperate beast."

Jax took a slow, deliberate step into the room, his dark eyes locked entirely on his daughter before shifting back to the woman who had destroyed his life.

"Let her go, Clara," Jax said, his voice a low, vibrating growl that shook the crystal pendants of the chandelier overhead. "This ends tonight. No more courts, no more shell companies, no more lies."

Clara laughed softly, setting her glass down on a marble side table with a sharp clink. "End? Jax, my dear, nothing ends until I say it does. Look around. You're standing in a private penthouse registered to a holding corporation that doesn't legally exist. If I push this silent alarm on my desk, my cleanup crew won't call the police. They'll dispose of you both where no one will ever find your bones."

Chloe whimpered, trying to pull the IV needle out of her arm, terrified by the cold malice in her mother's voice.

Jax took another step forward, his hand slipping instinctively toward the heavy matte-black Glock tucked into his waistband.

"You can threaten me all you want," Jax whispered, closing the distance between them until he was standing just feet away from Clara’s immaculate white blazer. "You can take my money, you can take my freedom, and you can try to take my life. But if you ever touch my daughter again... I will tear this entire empire down to the bare dirt, starting with you."

May you like

Clara’s smile finally faltered, a flash of genuine panic crossing her eyes as she looked up into the dark, unyielding abyss of Jax’s gaze. But before she could reach for the desk panic button, the heavy mahogany doors behind Jax flew open once again, revealing an unexpected visitor holding a thick manila folder.
