Chapter 14 - The Repeating Loop

Ricardo froze on the pristine white rug, the blood draining from his face as the exact sequence of events repeated word for word around him. He looked down at Leo, who sat beside the toy dollhouse with his tiny fingers clutching his jacket lapel, wearing a mask of absolute, rehearsed detachment.
"No," Ricardo breathed, staring up at the dining table where Elena stood, flicking her phone screen with cold indifference. "No, we broke the cycle. We saw the bones. We saw the truth!"
Elena didn't look up from her device. She didn't blink. She repeated her lines with mechanical precision, her voice cutting through the high-end acoustics of the minimalist penthouse.
"He does this whenever he wants attention," Elena said coldly, exactly as she had hours—or perhaps centuries—earlier.
Leo shrank into himself, his small shoulders trembling beneath the expensive wool of his jacket. He stared down at the tiny furniture scattered outside the dollhouse rooms, looking utterly defeated, just like the very first time Ricardo had walked into the room.
"Dad..." Leo whispered softly, his voice carrying the exact same cadence, the exact same pitch of helpless terror.
Ricardo felt a cold wave of existential dread wash over him. The house wasn't just a building; it was a closed temporal loop, a machine designed to harvest human despair, forcing its victims to relive their worst nightmares in an endless, looping eternity. If he didn't break the pattern right now, this exact moment would replay forever until nothing of their souls remained.
He didn't wait for his protective instincts to flare up organically; he forced his body to move, pushing past his own paralysis. He scrambled across the hardwood floor, grabbing the toy dollhouse with both hands and hurling it violently against the marble dining table.
The miniature wooden structure shattered into a thousand pieces, scattering plastic chairs and tiny stairs across the floor.
Elena stopped flicking her phone. She slowly raised her head, her eyes locking onto Ricardo with a look of pure, unadulterated venom. The temperature in the room plummeted instantly, the bright sunlight turning to a sickly, jaudiced yellow.
"You just ruined everything," Elena hissed, her voice distorting into a multi-layered screech as the walls of the penthouse began to bleed thick, dark red liquid from the ceiling beams.
Leo stood up slowly from the white rug, his small body stretching and elongating in the shadows, his eyes turning completely solid black as he smiled a terrifying, wide grin.

"You shouldn't have broken the house, Father," the entity whispered, stepping toward Ricardo with unnatural speed. "Now there is nowhere left to hide."
