Chapter 12: A Voice for Others
Word of Daniel’s art spread through the Veterans Center. Marcus invited him to exhibit his work at a local gallery benefit raising funds for veteran mental health programs.
On opening night, the gallery was crowded with community members, active-duty soldiers, and families. Daniel stood beside his Gate 4B painting, wearing a navy civilian blazer that finally felt like it belonged to him.
A young woman approached him, tears in her eyes. Her husband was currently deployed in Eastern Europe. "How do you survive the waiting?" she asked quietly.
Daniel looked across the room, catching Clara’s warm smile as she held Maya.
