Chapter 15 - The New Bell

The morning sun broke warm and bright over the suburban high school campus, casting long, golden rays across the polished brick walkways.

The heavy oak doors of classroom 402 stood wide open, welcoming a fresh breeze into the room. Mrs. Gable was gone, quietly suspended and placed under formal indictment alongside Superintendent Harrison before the sun had even risen. In her place stood an interim administrator—a fair, soft-spoken history teacher who greeted every student by name as they walked through the door.

Sofia walked down the hallway, her right hand completely free of bandages, the skin healing cleanly under the morning light. As she approached her desk, Marcus nodded respectfully from the second row, offering a genuine, welcoming smile.

Leo sat at his desk near the window, his curly hair neatly brushed, watching as Sofia took her seat without a trace of fear in her dark eyes.

The school bell rang out—clear, resonant, and strong—signaling the beginning of a brand-new period, free from the shadows of corruption and fear.

Sofia looked across the aisle at Leo, and for the first time all year, they both shared a quiet, knowing smile. The system had tried to break them, but in the end, truth had rewritten the rules entirely.
