Chapter 15: Dawn of a New Empire

The morning sun broke over the Manhattan skyline in a brilliant explosion of amber and gold, washing away the shadows of the previous stormy night. The forty-first-floor executive suite was bathed in clean, crisp daylight that reflected off the polished mahogany and glass surfaces.
Maeve Sterling-Ross stood before the floor-to-ceiling windows, wearing a tailored charcoal suit that fit her frame with absolute precision. The beige hoodie and grey sweatpants were packed away in a box in the archives, relics of a calculated deception that had brought an empire back from the brink of ruin. The faint bruise on her cheek was barely visible now, a fading memory of the night Victoria Val screamed her desperate defiance in the grand ballroom.
Arthur walked into the office carrying a single, leather-bound ledger—the original company registry from 1952, bearing the handwritten signatures of their grandfather and great-uncle. He set it down gently on the center of the executive desk.
"The board is waiting downstairs for the opening bell," Arthur said, his voice steady and proud. "The federal indictments against Meridian Logistics are already making front-page news across Wall Street. Marcus Vance has resigned from his firm, and the federal marshals have frozen all corporate assets belonging to his father's syndicate."
Maeve walked over to the desk, running her fingers across the worn leather cover of the old ledger. She opened it to the very last page, where a blank line waited for her signature. Without hesitation, she picked up a heavy silver fountain pen and wrote her name in firm, unyielding strokes: Maeve Sterling-Ross.

"Let them come up," Maeve said, looking toward the heavy frosted-glass doors.
Arthur smiled, walking over to open the doors wide, welcoming the future into the light. The era of stolen fortunes and corporate shadows was over. The true heir had claimed her throne, and the Sterling empire would never be vulnerable in the dark again.
