Chapter 6: Safehouse in the Pines**

An hour later, the SUV pulled into a hidden estate tucked away in the dense pine forests of Upstate New York. It was a property Julian had purchased under a shell company years ago, known to no one except Marcus.

Julian placed Lily on a plush sofa in the living room and wrapped her in a warm wool blanket. A fire crackled in the stone hearth, chasing away the autumn chill.

Marcus sat at the kitchen counter while Julian skillfully disinfected and bandaged his shoulder wound.

“How are your legs holding up, boss?” Marcus asked through gritted teeth.

Julian looked down at his limbs. They trembled with fatigue, but the deep neurological connection remained intact. “It defies science. Clara was working on cellular regeneration before she disappeared. Could Lily have inherited something from her research?”

“Or maybe,” Marcus said quietly, “love and purpose were the only medicine you were missing.”

Julian walked over to the sofa and knelt beside Lily. She was holding a small silver pendant shaped like a teardrop.

“Mama said this has the key inside,” Lily said, opening the pendant to reveal a micro-SD chip no larger than a grain of rice. “She said you would know what to do with the truth.”

Julian took the chip. Clara had documented everything.
