Chapter 4: The Unraveling**

"That’s… that’s fabricated," Mauricio stuttered, his voice rising an octave. He looked around the table for support, but Arthur Sterling had suddenly found the grain of the mahogany table immensely fascinating.
"It’s forensic accounting verified by federal regulators," Sarah said calmly, adjusting her glasses. "Mauricio, you didn't just siphon company funds for that mansion. You skimmed six point four million dollars from the Driver Emergency Relief Fund—the very fund created to cover catastrophic injuries on the road."
Silence smothered the room like a heavy blanket.
Leo leaned over the table, fixing his gaze squarely on Arthur and the other co-conspirators. "Any board member who votes to protect him will be named as a co-defendant in the Department of Justice indictment going out at noon."
Arthur immediately pushed his chair back and raised his hands. "I had no knowledge of this, Leo. None whatsoever."
"Coward!" Mauricio spat, turning on the old man. "You took the yacht in Monaco last summer!"
"Security," Leo said quietly.
Two uniformed private security officers entered the boardroom.
"You think you’re righteous, Leo?" Mauricio barked as hands gripped his shoulders, dragging him away from the table. "You think playing delivery boy makes you a saint? You’re a freak who doesn't understand how the real world works! Money commands respect, not empathy!"
"Respect is earned through character, Mauricio," Leo answered, his voice steady and calm. "You only bought fear. And fear depreciates the second the money runs out."
The heavy doors clicked shut behind Mauricio’s furious screams.
Leo turned to the remaining board members. "We have a three-hundred-million-dollar surplus sitting in offshore reserves. By 5:00 PM, I want every cent redirected into full healthcare coverage and pension matching for our entire national driver fleet. If anyone objects, you can hand your resignation to Sarah right now."
