Chapter 5: The Ultimate Stand**

The room fell into an oppressive silence. Richard expected Victoria to stammer, deny, or panic. Instead, Victoria slowly stood up, her presence commanding absolute attention.

“You want transparency, Richard? Let’s talk about transparency,” Victoria said, her voice steady and clear as glass.

She plugged her personal encrypted flash drive into the podium. The screen changed, displaying decades-old bank transfers from the late Arthur Sterling to an offshore entity known as *St. Jude’s Haven*—the illegal adoption front that operated in the early nineties. Attached were scanned documents bearing Arthur’s signature, detailing the acquisition of an infant identified by a missing person report: Clara Miller.

“Thirty-four years ago, our father committed a federal crime,” Victoria announced to the stunned board. “He bought a stolen child from a subway station to replace his lost daughter. That child was me.”

Murmurs of absolute disbelief erupted among the executives. Richard’s face went pale. He hadn't expected her to willingly expose her own lineage, risking her claim to the Sterling family name and fortune.

“The woman in that security footage is not a random maid,” Victoria continued, looking directly into the camera recording the meeting. “She is Elena Miller. She is my biological mother, a woman who spent every penny she earned searching for her kidnapped child while Arthur Sterling built his empire on a lie.”

Victoria took off her CEO badge and placed it firmly on the mahogany table.

“If keeping this seat requires me to deny the woman who gave me life, who suffered thirty-four years of torment for a crime our father committed, then you can have this company, Richard. I resign.”

Without waiting for a response, Victoria turned on her heel and walked out of the boardroom, her head held high as security guards and executives stared in utter shock.
