Chapter 15 - The Final Transmission and Dawn

The heavy master transmission switch clicked upward with a loud, mechanical snap, and the archaic vacuum-tube control panel flickered to life, bathing Arthur, Sarah, and Lily in a warm amber glow. A high-pitched carrier tone whined through the outdoor speakers mounted on the skeletal lattice of the relay tower, instantly locking onto the global analog satellite frequency.
From the dark tree line behind the clearing, the beam of a tactical flashlight cut sharply through the night air, followed by a cold, amplified voice echoing across the ridge.
“Step away from the terminal! This is your final warning!”
Arthur didn’t turn around. His fingers flew across the manual keyboard, inputting the decryption sequence as the progress bar on the weathered CRT monitor surged rapidly from zero to one hundred percent.
“Upload complete. Broadcast live to global syndication,” an automated synthetic voice chimed from the terminal console.
A sharp crack of a suppressed rifle shot echoed through the clearing, the bullet sparking viciously against the steel housing of the control box right next to Arthur’s hand. He flinched, but the confirmation light on the monitor turned solid green. The data was out. It was streaming across every independent news channel, government oversight server, and international broadcast network simultaneously. The syndicate could no longer contain it; the truth was irreversible.
Two heavy tactical operatives broke through the treeline, their weapons raised, moving aggressively toward them across the clearing.
“It’s over!” one of the operatives roared, lowering his rifle sights directly toward Arthur’s chest.
Before the trigger could be pulled, the distant sky above the valley erupted with the blinding glare of a dozen approaching police and federal aviation helicopters, their searchlights locking instantly onto the clearing on Blackwood Ridge. A megaphone from the lead chopper blared across the mountainside.
“Federal Bureau of Investigation and Internal Affairs! Drop your weapons immediately! You are surrounded by federal air and ground units!”
The two syndicate operatives froze, lowering their weapons slowly as the sound of dozens of approaching police cruisers echoed up the mountain access road, their sirens wailing through the dawn air.
As the first golden rays of morning sunlight broke over the eastern horizon, painting the sky in brilliant shades of amber and rose, Arthur slowly turned away from the terminal. He looked down at Sarah and Lily, who stood safely illuminated by the rising light of a brand-new day.

Sarah looked back at him, the walls of bitterness and betrayal finally crumbling away to reveal a quiet, hard-earned understanding. There would be a long road ahead of them—trials, investigations, and a complete rebuilding of their lives from the as
