Chapter 8: The Hidden Ledger**

Victor looked up through his tears, stunned by the mercy extended to him. "Damon... why? After everything I did..."

"Because I refuse to let Lily grow up surrounded by men whose only currency is death," Damon replied softly. "Leave before I change my mind."

With Victor and his nephew escorted safely toward a private airstrip bound for South America, Damon returned to his vast study. The silence of the mansion was different now—no longer filled with paranoia, but with the quiet finality of an ending. He pulled a heavy leather-bound ledger from the hidden wall safe behind his brother's portrait. It contained decades of offshore accounts, shell companies, and the tangled web of illegal enterprise his family had accumulated over generations.

Marco entered, looking weary but resolute. "The feds picked up Moretti at the gate. The Detroit ledgers were received by the U.S. Attorney’s office. The syndicate is crumbling in real-time, boss. But what about us? When they finish with Moretti, they’ll come looking for the Vance empire."

"Let them come," Damon said, placing the ledger on the desk. "We are liquidating every illicit asset. Set up an irrevocable blind trust in Lily’s name, managed by international trustees who have no ties to this city. Every dollar earned through blood will be converted into clean foundations, orphanages, and medical research."

"And you, Damon?" Marco asked, his voice thick with uncharacteristic emotion. "What happens to you?"

"A captain doesn't abandon ship without steering it out of the storm," Damon answered calmly. "I will sign the surrender documents myself. But first, we ensure Lily has a future far away from this darkness."
