Chapter 13: Standing Together

As the fire department arrived, dousing the flames before they could consume the historic manor, the chaos slowly subsided. Nora sat in handcuffs on the hood of a police cruiser, her designer clothes stained with soot, her corporate empire officially reduced to ash and legal ruin.
Clara stood near the garden fountain, wiping soot from her forehead. She watched as John knelt beside his father’s wheelchair, speaking in low, comforting tones. The harsh, aggressive biker exterior was completely gone, replaced by a devoted son healing old wounds.
Arthur looked up, spotting Clara. He motioned her over with a gentle wave of his hand.
"Young lady," Arthur said warmly, his voice steady. "My son tells me you're the one who found the truth. And saved us all."
"I just did what was right, Mr. Vance," Clara replied politely, offering a humble smile.
