Chapter 9: The Confrontation

Armed with the journal, Julian requested a private meeting with Victoria at her high-end private club. Clara insisted on coming along, determined to stand up to her mother once and for all.
When Victoria saw the journal on the table, her composure briefly slipped, revealing a flash of panic before her cold mask returned.
""You knew Sarah,"" Julian said calmly. ""You tried to take Lily away from her before she was even born. And when Sarah passed, you tried to complete what you started by using Clara.""
Victoria took a slow sip of her tea. ""Sarah was weak. And that child carries her blood. She doesn't belong in our circle.""

Clara stood up, her voice ringing with absolute clarity across the quiet room. ""She belongs with us, Mother. And you belong alone. You have used money to manipulate everyone around you, but you can't buy love, and you can't buy me anymore.""
Clara took Julian’s hand, turning her back on her mother forever.
