Chapter 1: The Broken Oath

The heavy silence inside the grand hall was louder than any scream. Julian held the parchment, the crisp bold letters—BOARDING SCHOOL—staring back at him like an indictment. He raised his eyes slowly toward Clara. His bride stood frozen in her pristine white gown, her hands trembling as she pulled at the fabric of her skirt.
Little Lily whimpered against Julian’s chest, hiding her face in his tuxedo jacket. For months, Clara had promised Julian that she loved Lily as her own daughter. But this hidden document, dated weeks before their wedding, proved Clara had planned to send the traumatized six-year-old thousands of miles away to an isolated institution.
""Is this who you really are?"" Julian whispered, his voice trembling with a mix of fury and heart-wrenching disappointment.
