Chapter 13

The heavy iron security gates of Maximum Federal burst outward with a deafening crash as a convoy of federal vehicles roared into the prison courtyard. Heavily armed federal marshals in black tactical gear poured from the vehicles, securing the perimeter towers and ordering all corrections officers to drop their weapons and step away from the control stations.

Bruno froze mid-charge, the heavy metal pipe slipping from his trembling fingers and clattering onto the dusty gravel. He stared in sheer disbelief as the tactical agents swarmed the yard, ignoring the inmates entirely and moving in a disciplined formation directly toward the administrative building.

Officer Miller stepped down from the observation platform, pulling off his guard cap and wiping his brow with a deep, triumphant sigh of relief. He walked calmly toward Inmate 102, who stood motionless amidst the chaos, his breathing steady, his uniform still neat and unwrinkled.

"They got the DOJ data drop right on schedule," Miller said, a proud smile breaking across his weathered face. "Federal warrants have already been signed for Warden Vance and every corporate executive tied to Apex Global. The game is finally over, kid."

Inside the executive suite, Warden Vance frantically slammed his fists against his computer keyboard, trying to wipe the master financial servers as the heavy oak doors were blown off their hinges by federal breach charges. Before he could hit the final delete key, lead federal marshals stormed the room, pinning him to his expensive mahogany desk and snapping heavy steel handcuffs around his wrists. Vance let out a guttural cry of absolute defeat as his empire of corruption crumbled into dust around him.

Back in the yard, the inmate population watched in stunned silence as the untouchable administrators were frog-marched out in handcuffs, exposed to the harsh light of day for all to see. The culture of fear that had dominated Maximum Federal for decades evaporated in a matter of minutes, replaced by an unfamiliar, fragile sense of hope.

Wei turned away from the commotion, walking slowly toward the exit gates where a team of federal investigators waited with official exoneration papers and a finalized release order. The long, punishing journey he had begun in the shadows was finally reaching its destination. He had not sought mere revenge; he had restored truth and justice where cruelty had reigned.

As he stepped past the security checkpoint and out into the crisp, open air beyond the prison walls, the morning sun broke through the heavy grey clouds, casting a warm, golden glow over the horizon. He paused for a moment, taking a deep, liberating breath of clean air, knowing that his parents' honor had finally been fully reclaimed.
