Chapter 15: Sunlight on the Water

The sun was setting low over the Pacific Ocean, painting the sky in deep shades of gold, amber, and soft purple. Sarah walked along the shoreline of Pine Creek, barefoot in the cool surf. Beside her, nine-year-old Lily laughed as gentle foam rushed over her feet.

The cottage on the hill was warm, filled with books, laughter, and the scent of sweet vanilla from the kitchen. The dark days were gone, left behind like footprints swallowed up by the incoming tide.

Lily took Sarah’s hand, her fingers small, warm, and confident. ""Mommy, are we going to be happy here forever?""

Sarah looked down at her daughter. She saw no fear in Lily’s hazel eyes—only curiosity, joy, and absolute trust.

Sarah smiled, squeezing her daughter's hand tightly as they looked out together at the vast, sunlit ocean stretching endlessly before them.

""Yes, baby,"" Sarah replied softly, her voice filled with quiet, absolute certainty. ""We are home, and our life is just beginning."""
