Chapter 4: The Unraveling

Julian sank into a gilt-edged chair, his wedding day completely ruined, his father exposed as a fraud, and his entire future built on a foundation of sand. The bride, standing near the cake table, had already torn the tulle skirt of her expensive designer gown to make it easier to run, tears carving tracks through her professionally applied makeup. The illusion of upper-class invulnerability had been thoroughly dismantled in less than ten minutes.

Officer Miller looked over at Jax and nodded. "We have the physical drives from his office downtown. The raid went down twenty minutes ago. This livestream was just the cherry on top." Jax stood up, towering over the cuffed Richard Sterling. "You thought you buried us twenty years ago, Richard," Jax said softly, leaning in close to the disgraced executive’s ear. "You thought taking away the shop, framing me for a crime I didn't commit, and leaving me for dead would keep your dirty secrets safe in the dark."

Richard sneered, spittle flying from his lips. "You're a nobody, a burnout on a bike. No one will ever believe an ex-con over a Sterling." But the confidence in Richard’s voice was entirely hollow, echoing like a child whistling past a graveyard. The corporate partners and board members who had once bowed to Richard were now actively backing away, their expensive suits brushing against one another as they desperately tried to distance themselves from the sinking ship.

Clara knelt beside Lily, whispering words of praise and comfort, helping the brave little girl brush the dust from her scuffed sneakers. The physical scratches on Lily’s face were still red and angry, but the spirit in her eyes was unbreakable. She looked up at Jax with a look of pure hero worship that made the hardened biker look away, suddenly intensely self-conscious of the rough life etched into his skin.
