Chapter 1: The Shattered Façade

The sound of my vintage leather suitcase hitting the damp cobblestones echoed like a gunshot.

"Get out, Elena," Tyler sneered, his handsome face twisted into an ugly mask of disdain. "You were nothing more than a placeholder. Look at you—fragile, pathetic, and a liability to my future."

Beside him on the grand marble staircase stood Chloe, draped in royal blue silk and dripping with diamonds that I had paid for. She leaned against Tyler, her laughter dripping with venom. "Did you really think a billionaire’s protégé would settle for a broken nobody? Run along, little orphan. You're yesterday's trash."

I didn’t scream. I didn't beg. Instead, my trembling hand instinctively moved to the gentle curve of my stomach beneath my cardigan. My unborn child kicked softly—a quiet reminder that I wasn't fighting for just myself anymore.

For four years, I played the humble, doting wife. When I married Tyler, I concealed my true identity under a modest pseudonym, wanting him to love me for my heart rather than my family’s empire: the Vance Global Conglomerate. My father, Arthur Vance, had warned me. He told me that unearned wealth reveals a man's true rot. I hadn't listened.

Now, as cold rain began to mist over the limestone estate, Tyler stepped forward, pointing down the driveway. "Take the bus. Your cards are canceled. You leave with nothing."

"You're right about one thing, Tyler," I whispered, my voice calm despite the burning tears in my eyes. "I am leaving."

I pulled out my private titanium phone—a secure line no credit block could touch. My fingers typed the single number burned into my memory.

I brought the receiver to my ear as the call connected on the first ring.

"Dad," I said, my gaze locking onto Tyler’s increasingly uneasy eyes. "Come get me. And bring the legal team."
