Chapter 13: The New Foundation**

Three months later, Evelyn Sterling was convicted on all charges and sentenced to fifteen years in a maximum-security state penitentiary without the possibility of early parole. Her father’s firm collapsed completely, leaving the family name thoroughly disgraced.
At Blackwood Manor, change came not through destruction, but through renewal.
Julian hired a crew of local craftsmen to tear down the dark mahogany paneling throughout the entire estate. He replaced the gloomy, historic decor with large, panoramic windows that flooded the halls with natural sunlight. The private gallery where the false wall had stood was transformed into a sunlit greenhouse and art studio.
Leo’s recovery was slow, but steady. With the guidance of child psychologists and the unwavering support of his father, the nightmares began to fade. He started attending school again, making friends, and filling the once-silent mansion with genuine laughter.
Julian, too, had undergone a profound transformation. He restructured Vance Enterprises, delegating operational control to his trusted executives so he could work from home and be present for every breakfast, soccer practice, and bedtime story.
One sunny afternoon, Julian called Maria into the renovated sunroom. Leo was sitting at a low table, painting watercolor landscapes with wild, bright splashes of yellow and green.
“Maria, please sit down,” Julian smiled, handing her a leather-bound folder.
Maria hesitated, looking at the formal document. “Mr. Vance, if this is about my wages, you’ve already given me more than enough.”
May you like
“Open it,” Julian encouraged gently.
