The Passing of the Torch

Eleanor’s health began to naturally decline. She was tired, but it was a good tired—the exhaustion of a life well-lived and a legacy secured.
She called Victoria into her office on a crisp autumn morning. The same tablet from a year ago sat on the desk. This time, it displayed the legal documents transferring the controlling shares of the Sterling trust and the company to Victoria and James as co-chairs.
“It’s time for me to step back,” Eleanor smiled, her eyes crinkling at the corners. “The company is yours now. The family is yours to protect.”
