Chapter 10 - The Tide Turns

The morning sun rose over the seaside cliffs, casting a brilliant, golden light across the empty wedding venue where white chairs still stood in neat rows on the lawn. But the atmosphere of tragedy and deceit had been washed away, replaced by the crisp, salty air of absolute freedom.
Clara stood on the balcony of the resort suite, wearing a simple white linen sundress—not the pale yellow lace of the aborted wedding, but something entirely her own. Her red hair caught the morning breeze, framing a face that no longer carried the shadow of fear.
Down below in the courtyard, federal marshals were escorting Christopher Hayes out of the resort's main entrance. His white military uniform was still immaculate, but the medals on his chest jingled uselessly against handcuffs as he was guided into the back of an unmarked federal vehicle. His career, his conspiracy, and his stolen future were dismantled in a matter of hours, flattened by the immutable weight of the live-streamed confession that had hit the State Attorney General’s desk just moments before he could file his fraudulent trusteeship.
Evelyn Cross stepped out onto the balcony, holding a fresh cup of black coffee and extending a single document toward Clara.
"The emergency injunction was granted at sunrise," Evelyn said, a rare, genuine smile touching her lips. "The estate is fully restored to your name, unencumbered by liens, prenuptial claims, or military interference. The development rights are yours to keep—or to turn into a protected nature reserve for veterans, as your father originally intended."

Clara took the paper, her fingers steady as she signed her name for the final time, the ink dark and permanent against the white page.
"Thank you, Evelyn," Clara said, looking out toward the endless expanse of the ocean where the waves rolled gently against the shore, washing away the wreckage of yesterday's lies and leaving a clean, open horizon for the rest of her life.
