Chapter 11

The locomotive lurched forward with a heavy, metallic groan, the massive diesel engine revving up as it engaged its transmission. Outside, the steel wheels screeched against the wet rails, and the towering shipping containers began to slide backward into the darkness as the train gathered speed. Inside the cramped utility compartment, the rhythmic vibration of the engine hummed through the floorboards, steady and hypnotic.
Jax’s fingers continued to dance across the mechanical keyboard of the military laptop, executing the final command sequences. On the screen, a progress bar crept slowly from left to right, representing the transfer of the syndicate’s master financial ledger into the locomotive's telemetry broadcast loop.
"Ninety-eight percent," Vance whispered, leaning over Jax’s shoulder, his eyes wide behind his glasses as he watched the numbers tick upward. "If this works, every bank account, offshore shell company, and political bribe associated with the board will be public property in less than two minutes."
"It’s not just about exposure," Elena said quietly, her hand resting gently on Goliath’s broad back as the mastiff slept peacefully at her feet. "It’s about dismantling the infrastructure of fear that kept these men in power for decades. Once their financial network collapses, their enforcers won't have the resources to hunt us down."
"Power doesn't vanish overnight," Jax warned without looking up from the screen. "The board will retaliate. But without their offshore capital, they'll be fighting in the dark—just like everyone else."
A sudden, high-pitched chime echoed from the laptop’s internal speaker, followed by a crisp confirmation message: TRANSMISSION QUEUED.
"We are approaching the Donner Pass tunnel," Jax said, checking his watch. The digital hands glowed a stark green in the darkness. "Forty-five seconds to convergence."
Outside, the ambient light of the rail yards faded completely as the freight train plunged into the gaping maw of the mountain tunnel. The sound of the diesel engine amplified into a deafening roar, echoing off the damp stone walls of the cavernous bore. Pitch blackness enveloped the railcar, broken only by the flickering amber dashboard lights.
"Hit the broadcast switch, Arthur," Jax instructed, stepping back from the console.

Vance reached out with a trembling hand and slammed his palm down onto the heavy toggle switch mounted beside the dashboard.
Instantly, the locomotive’s radio speakers hissed with static, followed by a piercing, high-frequency data tone that reverberated through the entire train. Across the coast, every marine radio mast, emergency broadcast tower, and automated coastal beacon simultaneously picked up the uncompressed payload. The syndicate’s darkest secrets were no longer locked behind biometric scanners and encrypted firewalls; they were echoing across the airwaves for the entire world to hear.
