But Eleanor’s bitterness had not died. She still had deep connections within the elite arts community. She had discovered Lily’s audition date and made a discrete phone call to the admissions director, a man heavily in debt to Eleanor’s family.
As Ethan, Sarah, and Lily approached the registration desk, the clerk looked at her clipboard and frowned. ""I'm sorry, Mr. Vance. Lily’s name has been removed from the roster. Her time slot was given to someone else.""
""What?"" Sarah gasped, her heart sinking.
Ethan’s eyes narrowed. ""Who authorized this?""
""The director, sir. He noted that Lily’s application was... incomplete.""
