Chapter 14: Under the Starry Sky

It was a clear, crisp autumn evening. The sprawling lawns of the estate glowed under a brilliant blanket of stars, the autumn air carrying the faint, sweet scent of falling leaves and distant woodsmoke. Damian and Lily sat together on a wooden blanket chest placed near the bay window of the upstairs nursery, wrapped in a thick wool quilt, sipping warm cocoa from matching ceramic mugs.

"Daddy, do you think mommy can see us right now?" Lily asked quietly, tilting her head up toward the expansive night sky where countless stars twinkled brightly against the velvet-black canvas.

Damian wrapped his arm a little tighter around his daughter, resting his chin gently on the top of her dark hair. He looked out through the clear glass pane, searching the sky until his eyes locked onto the brightest constellation shining directly overhead.

"I know she can, Lily," Damian answered softly, his voice steady and full of quiet peace. "She’s right up there, watching over us, making sure we never lose our way."

Lily smiled, lifting her right hand to touch the silver star ring resting securely on her slender chain necklace—a constant reminder of where she came from, the truth they had fought to uncover, and the unbreakable bond of family that no shadow could ever touch.
