Chapter 12: The Dawn of a New Era

The morning sun broke over the St. Maur with a brilliant, golden clarity that seemed to wash away the last lingering shadows of the past. By nine o'clock, the executive conference room was packed, not with hostile board members trying to protect their turf, but with Julian Vance, Margaret Higgins, Marcus, and three senior attorneys specializing in trust law.
Clara stood at the head of the table, her navy blazer crisp, her posture upright and unyielding. She laid her grandfather’s journal and the parchment amendment in the center of the table.
Julian Vance leaned forward, carefully examining the seals and the notarized signatures. After several long minutes of silent reading, he looked up at Clara, a profound expression of awe in his eyes. "This is airtight," Julian said quietly. "Arthur Sterling anticipated every loophole and sealed them shut before he passed. With this document, you aren't just the majority shareholder—you are the sole arbiter of the St. Maur’s destiny."
"What does this mean for the remaining board members who voted against the audit?" one of the attorneys asked, adjusting his glasses.
"It means their positions are terminated as of this second," Clara answered without hesitation. "We are dissolving the old oversight committee and replacing it with a community-backed trust board dedicated to preserving the ethical and historical integrity of the hotel."
Murmurs of approval rippled through the room. Margaret Higgins, sitting quietly near the back, dabbed a tear from her eye with a lace handkerchief.
"And the financial recovery?" Julian asked.
"Every dollar Elena Vance and her associates funneled into shell corporations will be subpoenaed and recovered," Clara declared, her voice ringing with absolute authority. "We start by auditing every vendor contract signed since 2019. If a supplier exploited this hotel, they will face full legal prosecution."
"It's going to be a massive legal battle," Julian warned, though there was a smile on his face. "They won't go down without a fight."

"Let them fight," Clara said, her dark eyes flashing with fierce determination. "We have the truth, we have the law, and we have the history of this place on our side."
As the meeting adjourned and the legal team dispersed to execute the dissolution notices, Clara walked out onto the grand balcony overlooking the lobby. Below her, guests were chatting amiably, bellhops were carrying luggage with smiles, and the round "SM" floor emblem gleamed under the crystal chandelier, polished to a mirror finish.
