Chapter 4: The Boardroom Confrontation

Inside the sunlit boardroom on the forty-fifth floor, Elena sat at the head of the mahogany table, her hands resting calmly over a thick leather-bound folder. Across from her, senior partner Richard Harrison adjusted his glasses, sliding a certified document across the polished wood.
"The paperwork is airtight, Elena," Richard said, his voice measured and professional. "When you married Julian seven years ago, you structured the corporate charter of Vance Tech as a wholly owned subsidiary under the Veritas umbrella, utilizing your family trust to fund its initial seed round. Julian was appointed CEO under a probationary contract that grants you absolute discretionary authority to revoke operational privileges at any moment, without prior notice, in the event of a breach of marital or fiduciary trust."
Elena scanned the document, her eyes skimming the familiar legal clauses she had drafted herself during their honeymoon. "And the revolving line of credit he used to purchase the mansion on the coast?"
"Backed entirely by your personal liquidity," Richard replied, offering a faint, approving smile. "If we execute the freeze today, his accounts will lock within the hour. His credit cards will decline by noon. And by three o'clock, the commercial lenders will demand immediate settlement of his primary business loans."
"Do it," Elena instructed quietly.
Marcus stepped forward, plugging a secure drive into the conference room’s main media display. A live dashboard flickered to life on the massive screen, showing real-time telemetry of Vance Tech’s financial servers. With a few swift keystrokes, Marcus initiated the corporate lockout protocol. Across the city, in the sleek glass-walled offices of Vance Tech, the master administrative keys would instantly revert to Veritas Holdings.
Elena watched the progress bar inch toward completion. She felt no remorse, only a profound sense of liberation. Julian had chosen his path the moment he handed her that yellow envelope and told her to find a hotel. He had traded genuine partnership for unbridled arrogance, assuming her love meant weakness.
"Send him a formal summons to appear at our corporate offices by two o'clock this afternoon," Elena ordered, standing up from her chair and buttoning her suit jacket. "Tell him it’s an urgent shareholder review regarding the restructuring of his subsidiary."

Richard nodded, gathering the documents into a leather briefcase. "He won't suspect a thing until his corporate email cuts out. Shall I have security ready?"
"Only if he makes a scene," Elena replied coldly, walking toward the floor-to-ceiling windows that overlooked the bustling metropolis below. "Though knowing Julian, he will walk in here expecting to bully a subordinate, only to find out he has already lost everything."
