Chapter 15

The early morning mist rolled gently over Oakridge Lane, greeting a brand-new day of unblemished sunlight and quiet suburban dignity. The houses stood proud and secure, their roofs repaired, their finances transparent, and their residents united by a bond that no fraudulent corporation could ever break.
Arthur packed his lightweight canvas duffel bag, securing it firmly behind the sissy bar of his classic motorcycle. He took one final look around his workshop, ensuring every tool was in its proper place and every machine was tuned to perfection. He walked out into the crisp morning air, his black jeans and leather vest fitting comfortably against his frame.
Mrs. Gable was already out on her porch, her walker resting beside her chair as she tended to a small ceramic pot of morning glories. She looked up as she heard the familiar rumble of Arthur’s engine coming to life. She didn’t wave goodbye this time; instead, she simply placed a hand over her heart and offered a serene, knowing nod.

Arthur nodded back, engaging first gear with a smooth, mechanical click. He eased the clutch out, letting the motorcycle roll gently down the driveway and onto the sunlit asphalt of Oakridge Lane. He didn’t look back as he accelerated down the boulevard, leaving behind a neighborhood that was safe, thriving, and fully restored to its people.
The highway stretched out before him into the vast, beautiful expanse of the American landscape. There were other roads to travel, other quiet towns that might someday need a defender willing to stand firm against the shadows. But today, the world was a little bit brighter, justice had prevailed over greed, and the open road awaited with endless possibilities. Arthur rode into the sunrise, a quiet guardian of the highway whose legacy of courage would echo long after the dust settled.
