Chapter 8: The Legal Reckoning

While Elena and Mia recovered, Diego’s legal team dismantled the web of deceit that had governed his company for years.

In the high-ceilinged conference room of *Navarro Maritime*, Diego met with his chief corporate counsel, Sarah Lin, and the federal district prosecutor.

""The evidence is incontrovertible, Mr. Navarro,"" the prosecutor stated, reviewing the wire records. ""Arthur Sterling’s firm used your company's logistics routes to launder illegal real estate transfers while framing your father's estate for tax non-compliance.""

""File the formal indictments today,"" Diego instructed calmly. ""No settlements. No quiet resignations. I want every asset stolen from our family foundation restored to public healthcare programs.""

By noon, news vans were parked outside Sterling Capital headquarters across town. Arthur Sterling was escorted out in handcuffs, his empire collapsing under the weight of his own greed. Paulina fled to Paris on a private charter, her social standing permanently destroyed.

Diego walked out of the corporate tower and onto the city street. The towering glass skyscrapers no longer felt like monuments to his success; they felt like hollow monoliths.
