Chapter 15: The Sunrise on the Horizon

One year after the night the needle fell, Luca and Lily stood at the edge of the coastal cliffs overlooking the Atlantic Ocean at their family summer home in Maine. The morning sun breached the horizon, painting the rolling waves in brilliant shades of gold and crimson.

The air was fresh, carrying the scent of pine and salt water.

Luca held a thermos of hot cocoa in one hand and held Lily’s small hand with the other. The phantom aches in his legs were gone, replaced by the steady strength of a man who had walked through the deepest valley and found the peak on the other side.

"Daddy, what's beyond the ocean?" Lily asked, looking out into the vast, gleaming horizon.

Luca looked down at her, seeing Clara’s gentle spirit and his own resilience shining in her bright hazel eyes.

"Tomorrow, Lily," Luca smiled softly, squeezing her hand gently. "A whole lifetime of bright, beautiful tomorrows."
