Chapter 15: The Whole Light

Two years after the night at the Pierre Hotel, the coastal estate in Newport was alive with music, children's laughter, and the rich scent of an outdoor summer harvest feast.

Long wooden tables set beneath the towering cedar trees overlooking the ocean were covered with white linen cloths, platters of grilled local seafood, sweet corn, fresh garden salads, and carafes of iced mint tea.

Over fifty people were gathered: former foster youth who had graduated from the Crescent Academy, pediatric nurses from Mount Sinai, Mrs. Gable and her family, and neighbors from Newport.

Ellie stood on the stone terrace, wearing a flowing white linen dress, her hair blowing freely in the warm ocean breeze.

Beside her stood Margaret, looking healthy, radiant, and peaceful.

A young girl from the academy ran up the terrace steps, holding a basket of freshly picked wild strawberries, laughing as she offered one to Margaret and Ellie.

Margaret took a strawberry, wrapping her arm around Ellie’s waist, resting her head against her daughter’s shoulder.

""Look at our home, Ellie,"" Margaret whispered softly, watching the sunlight dance across the Atlantic waves.

Ellie kissed her mother’s silver hair, her heart full, tranquil, and unbroken.

There were no torn dresses here. There were no false accusations, no stolen names, no shadows in the dark.

There was only an open sea, an unshakeable home, and an unbroken circle of love rooted forever in the rich, radiant light of truth.
