Chapter 12: The Fall of the House of Sterling

In June, the federal sentencing was finalized.
Richard Sterling was sentenced to forty-five years at the United States Penitentiary in Terre Haute. Cynthia Sterling was sentenced to twenty-five years for conspiracy and fraud. Victoria Sterling received fifteen years for grand larceny, extortion, and interstate perjury.
The Sterling family assets—valued at over $55 million—were completely seized under federal civil asset forfeiture statutes.
The luxury penthouses, sports cars, and private club memberships were liquidated on the courthouse steps.
All proceeds were transferred directly into the court-administered restitution fund established by Ellie Vance.
Sitting on the terrace in Newport, Ellie reviewed the final liquidation notices on her tablet, closed the screen, and took a sip of hot tea.
