The Stolen Foundation

That night, while reviewing the historical files of the Millennium Park initiative, Sloane noticed something that made her hands freeze on the keyboard.

"Alex... look at this schematic," she said, pointing to the foundational core design Alexander’s firm had filed three years ago.

Alexander leaned in.

"The wind-tunnel dissipation lattice," Sloane whispered, opening her old leather sketchbook from 2018. "This is the passive airflow system I drafted when we were living in Lincoln Park. You used my structural equations."

Alexander stared at the comparison on the dual screens. The equations, the spatial ratios, the parabolic glass curvatures—they were identical.

"When you left," Alexander said, his voice dropping into quiet shame, "I was lost, Sloane. I knew your designs were twenty years ahead of their time. I had our engineering team integrate your airflow principles into the flagship model because... because it was the only way I could keep a piece of your brilliance in the work I was doing."

"You built an entire corporate identity on my ideas," Sloane said, not with anger, but with profound, breathtaking realization.

"And you never got credit, a title, or a single dollar for it," Alexander said, taking both of her hands in his. "Tomorrow, that changes. I’m not going to Chicago to defend my corporate title, Sloane. I’m going to Chicago to introduce the true chief architect of Vance Enterprises."

Sloane looked into his eyes, seeing the absolute sincerity and absence of ego.

"Then we better pack our best suits," she smiled.
