Chapter 1: The Driveway Confrontation

The suburban sun beat down mercilessly on the pristine asphalt of the driveway, casting long shadows across the hood of the classic blue Chevrolet pickup truck. Marcus stood just behind the camera lens of his phone, holding it steady while Officer Miller blocked his path. The weight of injustice pressed heavily into the afternoon air, thick and suffocating.
Miller crossed his arms, his heavy utility belt jingling with metallic finality. "That truck is being impounded. You're not leaving with it."
Marcus narrowed his eyes, his breathing measured and calm despite the boiling rage inside him. "It's legally parked on private property. You have no basis to seize it."
Miller stepped closer, invading Marcus's personal space with an intimidating smirk. "Keep arguing and you'll be coming with me."
Before Marcus could finish his sentence, cold steel snapped around his wrists with a sharp, metallic click. The handcuffs bit into his skin as Miller wrenched his arms behind his back.
Marcus kept his voice chillingly steady, locking eyes with the corrupt officer. "Look behind my driver's license before you make this mistake."

Miller scoffed, pulling the plastic card from Marcus’s wallet. He flipped it over, expecting a standard address change. Instead, the color drained entirely from the officer's face as his eyes scanned the embossed federal classification seal on the reverse side.
Marcus watched the panic set in. "You're holding a federal asset," Marcus whispered, leaning forward just as a black unmarked sedan rounded the corner of the quiet suburban street with its headlights flashing.
