Chapter 5: Shadow in the Nursery
A chill ran down Darian’s spine. Suddenly, the security alarm flickered silently on his desktop monitor. Motion in the west wing hallway. Darian rushed down the corridor, his heart pounding in his chest. As he opened Lia’s bedroom door, he saw a dark figure standing near her bedside table, reaching toward her sleeping form. ""Get away from her!"" Darian roared, tackling the intruder to the floor. The intruder scrambled free, dropping a small glass vial before escaping into the shadows of the balcony.
