Chapter 10: The Reunion
Lia peeking out from behind Darian’s leg, her big hazel eyes wide with wonder. Maya fell to her knees, tears streaming down her face. ""Lia..."" she gasped softly. The instinctual bond was immediate; Lia stepped forward, timidly reaching out her tiny hand to wipe a tear from Maya’s cheek. ""Mommy?"" she asked. Darian embraced them both, emotional tears breaking through his tough composure. Maya explained how Victoria’s operatives had faked her death and kept her under constant surveillance, threatening to harm Lia if she ever made contact.
