Chapter 10

The soft hum of Marcus Vance’s subterranean workshop filled the tense silence as Elena stood before the primary console. The complex schematic of the Sterling Corporation’s digital architecture pulsed with red warning lights, highlighting the illicit backdoor channels Julian Vance had embedded deep within the company's financial grid during his hostile takeover attempt.

"The purge protocol is fully loaded," Marcus said, his weathered fingers hovering over the secondary verification terminal. "Once you input your biometric signature, the script will systematically dismantle every shell company, freeze every offshore account, and revoke every proxy vote Julian established over the past three years."

Elena reached out, pressing her palm against the glass biometric scanner embedded in the console. The scanner glowed a steady, reassuring blue, recognizing her identity instantly. A secondary prompt flashed across the screen, requiring a physical hardware token verification from Arthur to ensure absolute authority.

Arthur stepped forward without hesitation, inserting a vintage cryptographic key into the physical serial port beneath the screen. "Do it, El."

Elena pressed the final execution command. On the central monitor, a cascade of green cascading text began scrolling downward at blinding speed, replacing the red warning indicators with clean, verified ledgers. Across the financial districts of Seattle, Zurich, and the Cayman Islands, Julian Vance’s carefully constructed empire began to dissolve in real time. Shell corporations vanished from registry databases; automated asset freezes locked down illicit trading accounts; and regulatory watchdogs received automated disclosures detailing every infraction.

Marcus watched the data streams with a grim, satisfied smile. "There goes thirty years of phantom wealth built on stolen code. Your cousin is officially a pauper, Elena. Without those offshore assets, his legal defense team won't even be able to cover their retainer fees."

"Good," Elena said, withdrawing her hand from the scanner as the screen settled into a stable, secure green interface. "He tried to destroy our legacy with fear and deception. Now he faces the reality of an unvarnished ledger."

Arthur placed a hand on Marcus's shoulder. "Thanks for doing the right thing, Marcus. Even if it took a family disaster to bring you out of the mountains."

"I didn't do it for you, Arthur," Marcus replied dryly, turning back toward his monitors. "I did it because nobody—nobody—steals my algorithms and uses them to run a second-rate corporate shakedown."
